Superficial editing The blood sugar level of COVID-19 patients were greater (even though diabetes was omitted in the analysis as a confounding factor), which shows that COVID-19 affects the blood sugar level of patients and can confirm the findings of studies showing beta-cell dysfunction induced by the effect of COVID-19 on ACE2. The blood sugar level of COVID-19 patients was higher (even though diabetes was omitted in the analysis as a confounding factor), which suggest that COVID-19 affects patient’s blood sugar level and supports findings from studies showing beta-cell dysfunction induced by the effect of COVID-19 on ACE2.
Scientific deep editing The blood sugar level of COVID-19 patients was greater (even though diabetes was omitted in the analysis as a confounding factor), which shows that COVID-19 affects the blood sugar level of patients and can confirm the findings of studies showing beta-cell dysfunction induced by the effect of COVID-19 on ACE2. The blood sugar levels in COVID-19 patients were higher, even though individuals with diabetes were excluded from the analysis to reduce cofounding. This suggest that COVID-19 may directly influence glucose regulation and supports previous findings of β-cell dysfunction linked to the virus’s interaction with ACE2. Increased blood glucose levels were identified in COVID-19 patients following the exclusion of individuals with pre-existing diabetes to control confounding variables. This observation points to a possible disruption of glucose homeostasis directly induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection and supports earlier reports of β-cell impairment related to the virus’s binding to ACE2 receptors.
